Workshop: Advocacy 101

Location: Ryerson Students Center, 55 Gould Street, Layton Room

What if, instead of skating around cracks in your operating environment, you could smooth them out? When decisions about laws, policies and public funding and made, getting your message to the right people can deliver powerful results. This workshop will explore questions such as why advocacy is important, how to develop your ask(s) and how to run effective meetings with decision makers. Participants will have a chance to write their pitch (or refine an existing pitch), practice the delivery and receive feedback from other participants. The challenges of evaluating advocacy will also be discussed as well as strategies to overcome them.
